How much does a website cost in Zimbabwe in 2026?
Honest USD price ranges for websites in Zimbabwe, what you get at each level, and the hidden costs nobody mentions until the invoice arrives.

'How much for a website?' is one of the most-searched business questions in Zimbabwe, and one of the hardest to get a straight answer to. Quotes range from 80 USD from a student with a template to 8,000 USD from a Harare agency, for what looks like the same five pages. The difference is real, but nobody explains it.
So here is the honest breakdown: what each price level actually buys, what the ongoing costs are, and how to tell whether you are being overcharged or, more commonly, underserved.
The price levels, and what they really mean
Under 300 USD you are buying a template with your logo dropped in. It will exist, it will be slow, it will not rank, and you will usually not own it. This is fine if you need a placeholder while you sell on WhatsApp, and a waste of money if you expect it to bring enquiries.
Between 500 and 1,500 USD is where most serious Zimbabwean small businesses should sit. That should get you five to eight custom pages, mobile-first design, fast loading on 3G, a WhatsApp button on every screen, basic SEO setup, Google Business Profile integration and an enquiry form that reaches your phone.
Between 2,000 and 5,000 USD buys a website that functions as a sales system: many service and city pages built for search, content written for your market, booking or quotation flows, EcoCash and card payment integration, CRM connection and analytics that tell you where enquiries came from.
Above 5,000 USD you are into ecommerce with real inventory, custom portals, multi-language, or integrations with accounting and stock systems. Legitimate at that level, and overkill for a five-person firm that mostly needs to be found.
The running costs nobody mentions
A domain runs roughly 12 to 20 USD a year for a .com, more for a .co.zw. Hosting for a small business site is typically 5 to 25 USD a month. Business email is a few dollars per user per month, and it matters more than people think: an @gmail address on a quotation costs you deals in this market.
Then budget for maintenance. Updates, backups, security and small content changes cost either your time or roughly 30 to 100 USD a month. Sites die from neglect far more often than from bad build quality.
What actually makes a Zimbabwean website work
Speed on mobile data comes first. If your homepage takes eight seconds on Econet, most visitors are gone before they see it. Every extra second measurably reduces enquiries.
A WhatsApp button visible without scrolling is second. In this market it typically out-converts a contact form by a wide margin, because a message costs the customer almost nothing and gets an answer today.
Third, publish prices or at least ranges. Fourth, prove you are real: physical address, real photos of the team and premises, company registration, and reviews. Zimbabwean buyers are cautious for good reason, and trust signals are what turns a visitor into an enquiry.
Questions to ask before you pay a deposit
Do I own the domain, the hosting account and the source files? Will the site be built to load in under three seconds on mobile data? Does the price include copywriting, or am I expected to supply the words? How many revisions? Who handles updates after launch, and at what cost? Will you set up Google Search Console and Google Business Profile?
If the answer to the ownership question is anything other than a clear yes, walk away. The most expensive website in Zimbabwe is the one you have to rebuild from scratch because your developer disappeared with the login details.
How to get more from a small budget
Start with fewer, better pages. One excellent homepage, one strong service page and one contact page beat twelve thin ones. Add pages as you can afford them; a well-built site should grow without a rebuild.
Write the content yourself if budget is tight, but let a professional structure it for search. And spend the money you save on getting found, because a beautiful website nobody visits is an expensive business card.
